PLATFORMS FOR THE PROMOTION AND SUPPORT OF QUALIFYING MOBILITY IN INITIAL VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Aims and Objectives

Pro Mobility pursues the following short- and medium-term objectives:

1. Establishment of platforms:

During the term of the project, two platforms will be established:

  • Cooperation platform: In all the countries involved in the project, networks of education policy stakeholders will be set up (the so-called Pro Mobility Committees, or PMCs), which will support the operational project partners in developing a Pro Mobility Toolkit, lobby for the use of this toolkit to set up an internationalisation strategy in IVET, and disseminate information about qualifying mobility among actors in IVET (schools, training providers, students, apprentices) during and after the project term. The aim is to ensure PMCs are institutionalised in the individual countries and promote transnational cooperation ventures even after the official end of the project.

  • Virtual platform: Within the framework of this project, a website will be developed that comprises the Pro Mobility Toolkit (PMT) . This will include information about the infrastructure required for qualifying mobility and the necessary tools (such as checklists, information about the Europass transparency instruments, about other education systems, descriptions of competences and qualifications, a database of sending and receiving institutions, viz.: an exchange platform for VET, examples of best practice, etc.). The Pro Mobility website will, first and foremost, be directed towards stakeholders in IVET, i.e. schools and training providers as well as students and apprentices who want to take part in qualifying mobility. It will aim to facilitate access and enhance exchange options.

2. Organisation of prototype exchanges

In order to test the Pro Mobility Toolkit developed within the framework of Pro Mobility, at least three prototype exchanges will be organised in every country. The institutions and people involved in these prototype exchanges will then provide feedback about the Mobility Toolkit, which will be improved on the basis of the feedback.

Pro Mobility pursues the long-term objective to implement qualifying mobility as a part of the internationalisation strategy in IVET. Qualifying mobility will thus become an integral part of IVET (similarly to the Erasmus stays in higher education) and be anchored in national laws and regulations.

Mobility is the key to success!

People who spend periods abroad for training purposes will not only benefit in terms of professional development but also in terms of personal development from work placements abroad: They will learn to cope with new situations, become more open for other people and cultures, and look beyond their own horizons.
